Adapterne har en utvendig gjenge og en innvendig gjenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Den utvendige gjengen p\u00e5 en matcher tilsvarer en annen type gjenge enn den som kreves for tilkobling til utstyrsinstallasjonen. Matcheren gir den innvendige gjengen som er n\u00f8dvendig for \u00e5 koble til utstyret og beskytte de elektriske ledningene, samt koble til to typer gjenger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En matcher fungerer med b\u00e5de innvendige og utvendige gjenger av forskjellige typer, for eksempel PG-koblingsgjenger eller metriske gjenger.<br>Matcherne er laget av metall, spesielt nikkelbelagt messing.
