Reduksjonsr\u00f8ret er et metallstykke som best\u00e5r av en hanngjenger og en hunngjenger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I reduksjonsgir tilsvarer utvendig gjengen et st\u00f8rre m\u00e5l enn det som kreves for tilkobling til utstyrsinstallasjonen. Reduseringen har en mindre innvendig gjenge i den andre enden, noe som gj\u00f8r tilkobling av komponentene mulig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reduksjonsstykkene har b\u00e5de innvendige og utvendige gjenger av samme type, som PG-koblingsgjenger eller metriske gjenger. Dette skiller dem fra adaptere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reduksjonsstykkene er laget av metall, spesielt forniklet messing.
